Bio & CV:

May (b.1994, Alexandria, VA) is an artist living and working in Los Angeles. His multifaceted practice includes painting, photography, drawing and collages. May Studied photography at The Savannah College of Art and Design and was most recently featured in a group show at Bozo Mag Gallery in LA.

Inspired by the California landscape, this current body of work is a response to dramatic weather this fall such as the Santa Ana winds, Smoke from the Northern Fires and a Lighting storm. The dystopian and eerie feeling landscape led May to look at surreal painting and photography, Kay Sage and Jerry Uelsmann, respectively. He sees his canvases set in a place after Thomas Cole’s “Course Of Empire” where nature has begun to take over what humans built and subsequently destroyed.
